Carolyn and Brandon 8-16-09

We are behind on blogging again...

Carolyn and Brandon had the sweetest Sunday wedding on a perfect blue sky day. Because Brandon is in the Marines this couple has had their share of time apart. Once the ceremony was over we took the two away from the party for some "love shots". They were precious with each other. In every photo Carolyn and Brandon were smiling, laughing, or kissing. It is the joyful weddings like Carolyn and Brandon's that make us love being wedding photographers.

Katie and Joe. Wedding in Vail.

Katie booked her wedding with us over the phone and met us the for the first time on her wedding day. In an ideal scenario we would be able to meet with couples prior to their wedding, but it is not always possible for destination weddings. It has been awhile since we photographed in Vail. We always welcome a change of scenery. That is what keeps our job interesting and the creativity vibrate.

Katie and Joe were such an enjoyable couple to work with. They were open to our photo suggestions and extremely laid back about the entire process of the day. We are so happy that these to found each other, and we are honored that we were the selected photographers to document their wedding day.

Trash the Dress

Heather (one of our favorite brides) actually suggested that we do a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot. We didn't even have to convince her that this would be fun. It was actually her idea! Gotta love it! Of course this took place after the wedding. :)

Shannon J.

On a cloudy morning Shannon and I went on a little adventure in a down town Durango in search of some interesting places for senior portraits. She was quite the trooper. We managed to find multitudes of fantastic locations. She was up for just about anything and because of this has a ton of great images to choose from.

The Women's Resource Center Girls Night Out

To support the Women's Resource Center (one of my favorite nonprofit organizations in Durango) I volunteered to photograph some amazing women in Durango who are going to be featured at the up coming Girls Night Out ~ Extraordinary Women Honoring Extraordinary Women. This is going to be an incredible event. Tickets are $40 per person and will go fast. The event will be held at the Blue Lake Ranch Ridgewood Event Center on September 11, 2009. For more information call 247-1242 or visit their website by clicking on the link above.

Kelly and Dan

I love this couple! Kelly called me about a month ago to see if we would be available to photograph their October 3, 2009 wedding in Telluride. Pretty short notice but as serendipity would have it we were able to rearrange some things to make ourselves available. Their engagement story happened in Paris. Dan designed the ring specifically to her taste and was able to totally surprise Kelly. I could go on forever on how perfectly planned out this engagement was... and in Paris. Yes, right away (even though our initial conversations were on the phone) I was completely drawn to this couple. I am a bit behind on blogging because it has been two weeks since this Kelly and Dan made the effort to drive from Telluride to visit me in Durango for their engagement session. I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with them and I can't wait to share their wedding photos with you.

Carly and Mark's Sultry Studio Adventure

My beautiful, hilarious, multi-talented girlfriend Carly and her squeeze Mark (better known as Remarkable) trusted me to photograph them in a pretty vulnerable state, nude. Because they are good friends, it was easy to get to a comfortable place during the shoot. These images are so different from where clients usually feel safe going. It was so much fun creating these. I hope for more shoots like this in the future. We worked our way up to the sass in some of these shots. I think I should plug that one of Carly's most recently added skills is that she now has her private pilots licensee. I decided this shoot was a good time to present our simplified logo. We are headed towards the KJ stamp only. :)

This weekends activities...

Allison and Jeff pledged everlasting vows to each other in Telluride this Saturday after what I believe took 14 years of courting. I don't think Allison or Jeff's eye's stayed dry during the ceremony, but the tears were broken up with laughter. Hayden, the flower girl was full of sass up until it was time to approach the actual walking down the isle portion of the day. She stood perched peering out at the crowd, while everyone coaxed her forward. After all of the rain we have had the past week I was sure we were going to battle weather on Saturday, but as luck would have it the weather was picture perfect. Sunny with a bit of a breeze. I think Allison and Jeff put in enough time together before the wedding to earn themselves a day of sunshine, and I couldn't be happier for them! :)
